• Book Club: The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali @ Heritage Park

Our seventh official club read will be The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan! Seventeen-year-old Rukhsana Ali tries her hardest to live up to her conservative Muslim parents’ expectations, but lately she’s finding that harder and harder to do... Luckily, only a few more months stand between her carefully monitored life in Seattle and her new life at Caltech, where she can pursue her dream of becoming an engineer. But when her parents catch her kissing her girlfriend Ariana, all of Rukhsana’s plans fall apart. For our late spring and summer book club meetings we will host outside whenever possible. Feel free to bring snacks, drinks, blankets, whatever you want or need! There is no bathroom at the park. If you have any accessibility concerns related to hanging out in a grassy park please message us and we can work out an accommodation. • Book Club: Kiss Number 8 @ Heritage Park

    Heritage Park

Our eighth official club read will be Kiss Number 8 by Colleen A.F. Venable! In this graphic novel, Amanda can’t figure out what’s so exciting about kissing. It’s just a lot of teeth clanking, germ swapping, closing of eyes so you can’t see that godzilla-sized zit just inches from your own hormonal monstrosity. All of her seven kisses had been horrible in different ways, but nothing compared to the awfulness that followed Kiss Number Eight. An exploration of sexuality, family, and faith, Kiss Number Eight is a coming-of-age tale filled with humor and hope. For our late spring and summer book club meetings we will host outside whenever possible. Feel free to bring snacks, drinks, blankets, whatever you want or need! There is no bathroom at the park.
