This group is for women readers of all ages and backgrounds. We love diversity! Our intention is to meet with fellow women to discuss books by women authors. We'll read women's voices from all over the world. We'll focus on quality fiction: Books must be winners, finalists, short-listed, long-listed for a major literary award or be a best book year by a respected source such as NPR, The New York Times, or The Washington Post. After you've attended three events, you can suggest a book if it meets the criteria. Books must be available on the Kindle, on Audio-book/Audible, and at the Louisville Free Public Library.
To join, please upload a recognizable picture of yourself, so we'll know who you are when you arrive.
We'll meet once a month on Sunday at noon at a coffee shop/cafe in the Highlands. They serve food for those who'd like lunch. We'll have a private table in a quiet area. If you want to order something to eat and/or drink, please arrive 20 minutes early.
In addition to reading, we'll have events where we watch a documentary or movie at home about a famous woman (particularly women writers, artists, etc.) or women's issues and discuss the documentary and socialize during a dinner at a restaurant. We'll also go to local events involving books and reading like the Used Book Sale at Locust Grove, library events, etc.
*Please RSVP IF you're going. If you've signed up and are unable to attend, please change your status to "not going". Members who accrue three "no shows" will be removed from the group.
