This book club is as much about the books as it is about socializing. We will meet once a month to discuss the book we have just read and any other topic that might come up. This is a very low stress book club - just come and have a good time!
A scary read was picked for October - a young woman moves into an apartment building that houses a sinister evil. Described as being like The Sentinel (1977 movie) on acid, which means I'll be reading this with the light on. We look forward to seeing everyone and feel free to join even if you haven't finished the book.
For November, we went with a highly anticipated book (and another Reese Witherspoon pick) about immigration. We see it from the perspective of Margot Lee, a Seattleite in her late 20s, who begrudgingly heads to LA for an overdue visit with her mother, Mina. It explores the struggle between an immigrant mother and an American born daughter as we learn of Mina’s life in Korea and her passage to the U.S. in search of a self-made future.
We look forward to seeing everyone and feel free to join even if you haven't finished the book.
