BOS/Cambridge - Beginners' Class for Sword, Dagger and Grappling (Summer 1)

Always wanted to learn how they really fought in the middle ages? Forget any ideas about crude battering on armour; the successful warrior strikes to the gaps and the openings of his or her opponent's attacks, and supplements this with disarms, throws, and other techniques which secure the advantage over larger or stronger attackers.

Around the year 1400, Fiore dei Liberi trained medieval knights and squires, and authored multiple books of medieval combat, some of which have survived to the present day. His method, L'Arte d'Armizare (the Art of Bearing Arms), shows an integrated and cross-referenced system of sword, dagger, grappling, spear & lance, pollaxe and other weapons on foot and on horseback, with and without armour, and easily dispels any illusions that medieval combat was about unskilled strength.

Our beginners' course is four linked classes that give the basic techniques and vocabulary of L'Arte, and enables men and women to begin regular unarmoured training and learning with the SSG Boston Branch.  No prior training needed; all class equipment is provided.

So, come join the scholars and combatants of our company!

(The price shown includes all four classes (June 8, 15, 22 and 29) and membership and registration with the international Schola Saint George, Ltd.)

Oh okay. Yeah, I wasn't able to make the one this past Saturday. I'll keep checking back until there's the first lesson again. Thanks :)

    Hi Justin-
The beginner classes are a block of four classes, so we closed RSVPs on them after the first class. But if you'd like to start now and can come an hour early, we can catch you up on that first class. Let me know if you're interested.

Hey all, are the beginner classes full for the summer? None appear to be open.
