Talk about Algo Trading - Wes McKinney

Wes McKinney is our speaker this month! Wes began his career at a major investment firm as a quant. He is the creator of pandas, and literally wrote the book on python for data.

If you are driving, the best parking is in the open lots in Fort Point. There is one on A street, along the Fort Point Channel. Drive down Summer street, over the bridge, come to a set of lights. Turn right on Melcher Street, drive to the end, turn right onto A Street, and lot will be on your right. Here's the google streetview of the lot:

Wes' presentation was really good. I learnt a lot about the (current/future) capabilities of Pandas. Kudos to Fawce, Jonathan, Dan and the rest of the Quantopian team for sponsoring this meetup!

It was a very enjoyable session due to Wes' abilities to relate the subject matter while at the same time modifying his code entries on the fly and making it all make sense in the end. I am sure the quants in the room left with more than a tee shirt. Wishing Wes great success in his newest endeavor down in NYC.

If anyone has some comments to make to me on the current state on Business Analytics and how that is driving competitive advantage for companies, I would appreciate your thoughts.
