5 Cool database features exposed in APEX applications - Anton Nielsen

APEX is a fantastic tool for rapidly developing compelling user interfaces, but APEX's real power comes from its ability to easily expose the ever expanding feature set of the Oracle database.  This presentation will highlight (and combine) a few new and old "cool" features of Oracle, exposed via APEX.  Some possibilities include Oracle Text, Virtual Private Database, owa_util, util_inaddr, utl_http, External Tables (with Hadoop!), Redaction Policies, Flashback, SQL Analytics, SQL Pattern Matching, Spatial, SQL Sudoku...the list goes on and on.

APEX 5.0 New Features – Marc Sewtz
This session will provide an overview of the major new features being delivered in Oracle Application Express 5.0. APEX 5.0 has a completely re-imagined user interface and a brand-new theme to help you develop beautiful, modern, responsive applications. This session will walk you through some of the improvements in the new design and introduce you to the “Universal Theme,” an all-new, consolidated, and simplified theme that contains several built-in styles, faster customization, and much more.

APEX 5.0 Page Designer – John Snyders
Oracle Application Express 5.0 introduces Page Designer, a completely new and streamlined approach to building your APEX pages. Page Designer offers rapid IDE-style definition of your pages, with features such as component trees, drag-and-drop layout, a property editor, and so much more, that will massively improve your productivity and developer satisfaction. You thought Application Express was already rapid; wait until you see Application Express 5.0!

Boston Apex Meetup members - we need a new meetup! Anyone want to have an impromptu meetup somewhere to play with Apex 5.0 EA3?

Hi Dan - I like the idea and I'd be open to coming by for another Boston meetup. We've also just scheduled an EA-3 focused session in our NYC group for 03/03

John - thanks for taking the initiative to get this going, for everyone who presented (learned a lot and plenty more to be excited about) and for the opportunity to meet an enthusiastic local community.
Dan - let me think about that suggestion - may not be for next meetup (deadlines), but I'll keep it in mind for another. And am happy to walk you through it by other means - I mostly used ideas published by Patrick Wolf, Martin Giffy D'Souza and several others...
