Luis Majano on BDD (Behavior Driven Development) - Change the way you code

Behavior Driven Development (BDD) is the next evolution of Test Driven Development (TDD) where it focuses your testing experience on validating your system's requirements instead of how the system is being built internally.  In this session, we will review the theory behind BDD and how it will change the way you code by focusing on requirements in order to build software that matters!  We will then delve into real implementation by using TestBox, the xUnit and BDD framework for ColdFusion (CFML).

The objective of this presentation is to introduce attendees to the basics of behavior driven development and also the application of such concepts using CFML and TestBox, the BDD testing framework for ColdFusion.

About the Speaker

Luis Majano is a Computer Engineer born in El Salvador and is the president of Ortus Solutions (, a consulting firm specializing in CFML, web development, architecture and professional open source support and services.  His background includes over 14 years of software development experience, architecture and system design.

He is the creator of the ColdBox Platform (, ContentBox Modular CMS (, manages the Inland Empire user group and is an Adobe Community Professional.  He lives in California with his beautiful wife Veronica, baby girl Alexia and baby boy Lucas!  You can read his blog and technology musings at

There are also several parking lots in the area which charge ~$12-$15. Thanks for coming out, everyone. I recorded the talk, but Luis actually talked about some stuff that he didn't want to be public until after cfObjective(). So I'll post the link to the recording after that (May 16)

Hey All, I don't think I am going to make it tonight but I am lobbying to have my boss send me to CFObjective. If that happens I want to see Mr. Majano's presentation there. In fact, it was part of my "ammo" for going.
