This meetup has been cancelled due to snow.
Come and celebrate Lunar New Year in Chinatown and enjoy yummy dim sum (Cantonese brunch style) at Hei La Moon Restaurant in Chinatown. 2013 is the year of the snake: People born in the year of the snake are considered to be powerful and ambitious. The restaurant have an extensive menu and their price is reasonable. Dim sum refers to a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. The average individual cost for dim sum would be usually not more than $15-20 including gratuity.
We plan to meet in front of McDonalds, 702 Washington St., (corner of Stuart & Washington): a 5 min walk from Chinatown or Tufts Medical Center T stations (Orange Line) at 11:00am. At 11:15 am we will walk over to Hei La Moon for dim sum.
Please bring cash to make payments easier.
Our host, Betty, teaches Cantonese conversational classes of all levels in Sunday afternoons in her Newton office. Since Betty has to book several tables at the Restaurant, please keep up with your RSVP. Please sign-up only when you are sure to join in dim sum. After dim sum around 2 pm, we will walk around Chinatown to enjoy lion dance, firecrackers (watch out!), and some New Year street venders for a couple of hours. (This event was co-posted with two other meetup groups: Asian American and Boston Neighborhood Explore.- please RSVP with only one group). Parking spots will be extremely hard to find in and around Chinatown, so the use of T/Bus is recommended.
