A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shakespeare) at ArtsEmerson by Bristol Old Vic (UK)

  • Mar 8, 2014 · 8:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

"For the first time since their collaboration on the internationally acclaimed War Horse, Tom Morris and Handspring reunite for Shakespeare's irresistible A Midsummer Night's Dream. In this Midsummer, it’s not just the lovers, foes and fairies who are spellbound. Trees, objects and tools all pulse and tingle with the possibility of existence in a future primitive world where, thanks to the magic of Handspring Puppet Company alongside a brilliant company of actors, all objects are granted the right to life."

Bristol Old Vic is the longest continuously-running theatre in the UK whose mission is to pioneer 21st century theatre in partnership with the people of their energetic city, inspired by the history and magical design of the most beautiful playhouse in the country. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Handspring Puppet Company was founded in 1981 and has grown under the leadership of Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones. The company's work has been presented in more than 30 countries around the world.

I've just checked out on line the Black Seed Cafe at 131 Tremont St. - near Park St station - and am glad to see that it gets lots of good reviews. I'm going to get there at 6.15pm and hope to meet a few nomads. Feel free to introduce yourself. I won't have a sign but I do look like the guy in the photo. The Paramount is within walking distance, the weather is meant to be good and we're going to see Shakespeare. Who cares about the winter!

I mean "conversation" in this column: just indicate "Yes I would like to join the dinner at Black Seeds Cafe at 6:30pm" or something shorter like Dan W did. I got Dan, Eva and Arnab for the dinner list - so you do not need to post again.

    Hi Shakespeare folks,
Donal is hosting this meetup. We have pre-theatre dinner set at Black Seed Cafe & Grill: 131 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02108 at 6:30 pm - Optional: Please post "conversation" below if you would like to join the dinner at the Cafe. Arnab, it is nice to sit together but due to the ticketing system, it maybe difficult in this case. But the theatre is not that big so, you may see each other. Come to the dinner to socialize beforehand.
