Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Where have you been?

My hometown is Rockport, MA, where I graduated from high school and where my mother still lives. I moved to New York City for college and stayed to work at Simon & Schuster as an editor and then freelance writer. I moved back to Boston for about 10 years, living in the Back Bay, then moved to New Orleans. At 40, I decided to go to law school (at Tulane) and then practiced first as an assistant district attorney and then as public defender. Just before Katrina, I'd left New Orleans for D.C., where I worked for the American Red Cross. When I returned to New Orleans, I worked as a public defender. Today, I work as an appellate public defender in private practice (but mostly through the state public defender system). I love living in Salem--it is culturally, architecturally, and historically rich (and with a beautiful seacoast), but also being so close to Boston. I want to take better advantage of all that this area and the city have to offer.

What is your or desired favorite vacation destination?

I don't travel nearly as much as I'd like to. My favorite foreign city (where I have a very good friend) is Paris. I want to return to Napa Valley and Sonoma, which is a fantasy for a wine lover like me. I have a cousin who lives and owns a restaurant in St. Croix--I'm looking to escape there (where I've never been) next winter!

Do you have any activity suggestions or ideas for the group? What do you like to do for fun?

I'm joining this Culture Club in hopes of expanding my capacity for having fun! I work alone, write alone, and making plans to see music, visit museums, or try new restaurants appeals to me.

What is your astrological sign?

Coffee or Tea? ;)

wine!! (or coffee :)

I'm Suzanne LeVert, an attorney and writer who lives and works in Salem, MA. I'm single (never married). I moved back to the North Shore a few years ago after living in New Orleans for 10 years and am eager to make new connections, new friends here.
