Fasting is an ancient way of cleaning up the body and a great way to lose weight. In this Meetup we will explore ways of fasting safely, and get into the controversy surrounding fasting. Considering the obesity epidemic in our society it is surprising that this method of weight loss is not recommended by mainstream doctors and nutritionists. While we can not give medical advice on how to fast, we can be a good support group for people who do decide to fast for health. Some people can also give tips from their own experience fasting. We will also explore other diets that have a fasting component. For example, the low-carb ketogenic diet "starves" the body of carbs while eating mostly fat. What are the positive and negative aspects of these diets? All are welcome, even if you are skeptical about the diet. Feel free to bring a friend.
