First Boston Hardware Startup Meetup!

After much deliberation, we're finally ready to announce Boston's first Hardware Startup Meetup!

It's all about the teams, so each month we'll have 3-4 hardware startups present. They'll have time to pitch, ask questions, advertise, recruit, troubleshoot and/or hopefully demo.

Because we all love food and drinks, we'll also have one sponsor each month that will generously pick up the tab. Boston's very own community-CAD startup GrabCAD will be sponsoring the first meetup and CEO Hardi Meybaum will talk about the future of mechanical CAD.

I'm going to suggest the following general format:

7.00P: Arrival, food, drinks

7.30P: Main presentation (sponsor/founder war stories/whatever you guys want)

8.00P: Startup #1: Force Field Labs

8.15P: Startup #2: Rest Devices

8.30P: Startup #3: Keystone Tower Systems

8.45P: Technical Q&A/demos

9.00P: Networking

Call for Startups

In that light, we're always looking for startups/hardware teams to tell their story! If you're interested in presenting at future meetups, feel free to shoot me an email directly at [masked] with a brief description of what you do.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

This was a fantastic event, I've never been to a meet up before, but I bet there not all as well organized or attended as this one. Thanks Ben for bringing us all together, appreciate the time and effort you spent to make it a great night. Look forward to the next one!

My only regret was having to leave early to get to the train. Need to drive next time.

I was both impressed and inspired by the companies that presented. Additionally, enjoyed meeting so many people with different skill sets and experience and can't wait for the next event.

Wish I could have made it last night. Congrats to Ben and all those who made last night a reality. Very exciting to see hardware get some love here in Boston. Looking forward to the next event.

On a personal note, always interested in connecting with consumer products / consumer electronics / hardware entrepreneurs and those who challenge, inspire, support, and partner with them. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

I am eager to meet a few people tomorrow who have experience with design and prototyping of wearable electronics, especially wearable GPS devices. Please let me know if you have experience of this stuff!

Arya, due to a last minute obligation I can't make it, but I have experience with wearables, electronics packaging & product development. I may be able to help or help point you in the right direction.

    Any suggestions for nearby parking?

    January 20, 2013

    • Ben E.

That time of night, street parking shouldn't be too bad. In my experience, there are often spots further east on Summer Street (near the 90 overpass). There are few lots around Greentown, but they're all pricey compared to street parking.

Turns out I won't be able to make the first Boston Hardware Startup Meetup @Greentown Labs due to out-of-town travel. I changed my RSVP so my reservation could be used by someone else - just got word that it's SOLD OUT. So sorry to miss this! Looking forward to attending and perhaps pitching in the future!
