Every Sunday afternoon at 1:30 pm, our volunteers meet to serve the needy in our community and to share stories with them over a healthy and wholesome brunch, which we also provide, cook, and serve. Our service has, over time, undergone a transformation: what began as the simple distribution of food has transformed into a weekly get-together with friends over a meal. The rooms in which our volunteers perform duties and prepare meals have changed from mere physical space into a welcoming home. Occasionally, our volunteers bring musical instruments and play music that the brunch attendees greatly enjoy. In short, our service seeks to bring people together in a loving environment where each party learns from the other. It is this that also sets our service apart; it does not only provide an opportunity for the volunteers to give back to the community; it also provides an experience in which both the volunteers and residents grow as human beings. We invite you to join us in this service.
Please note: Volunteers meet at Boston House of Sufism (84 Pembroke St, Boston) at 1:00 PM for a brief orientation and all first-time volunteers must read, print out, and bring with them the protocol document available here above under the "files" tab.
