Sometimes the traditional model of raising capital - working privately with a small number of investors, each providing a significant amount of capital - isn't always the right fit. Crowd funding, in contrast, is the raising of capital from the public, through numerous small donors, often online. This type of funding may very well be the model you are looking for.
At this meeting, our panel will explore the advantages, methods, and limitations of two types of crowd funding: "rewards based" and "securities based". After brief presentations, each type of crowd funding will be addressed in more depth through interactive breakout sessions. Plenty of time is allocated for networking!!
Jed Cohen, a Founder and Chief Operating Officer of RocketHub (www.RocketHub.com). A founder and COO of a major platform for rewards-based crowd funding (which has plans to be a portal for securities-based crowd funding when it becomes legal in the US later this year),
Nelson de Witt, author of "A Kickstarter's Guide to Kickstarter" (www.KickstarterGuide.com)
Halley Suitt Tucker, founder and CEO of BoOkBoX. An entrepreneur who recently completed a fully funded Kickstarter campaign -- to write a novel about startup accelerators.
Before this event, you may wish to review two white papers on crowd funding that we have posted on our site, under the heading "Presentations" near the top of the event details and registrations page: http://www.boston-enet.org/meetings/networking-evening-online-financing-and-crowdfunding.
The venue and other details are also on that page.
Online registration closes on Tuesday, April 16 at midnight (EST).. You are welcome, however, to register at the door.
