Come spend a couple of hours on the water with us. The Charles River Lakes District, an area with more than 100 years of canoeing history. This scenic 6-mile stretch of flatwater runs from Moody Street Dam to Rt. 16/Newton Lower Falls Dam in Wellesley. There is abundant wildlife along the river, including herons, otters, turtles, cormorants, muskrats, ducks, geese, and swans. Powerboat traffic is generally light and slow, and rowing shells also ply the waters.
Rent a canoe or kayak from Boating in Boston, 2401 Commonwealth Avenue Newton, next to the Newton Marriott in Auburndale, or bring your own boat and put in across the river at the public parking at the end of Norumbega Rd, Weston. (This area seems to be at the intersection of 4 towns!) We will meet in parking lot or on the water next to the lot.
