Sunset at Scituate Lighthouse

  • Sep 21, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

All right, let’s explore and photograph the Old Scituate Lighthouse in Scituate, MA before its getting cold.  We will meet at the parking lot next to the Lighthouse around 6:30pm to catch the sunset, if there is one ;)

Suggested equipment: hiking boots, flashlights, bug spray, tripod, remote, camera and variety of lenses. I’d also recommend bringing a light jacket to keep you warm in case you want to stay late.

We should finish by about 9pm, but you are free to depart sooner or carry on shooting as long as you wish.

This, of course, is weather permitting.

Please keep an eye on your email and this Meetup notice in case weather forces a change to arrangements.

I was out there scouting the location on August 16th and these are shots from that evening.

No sunset. Cloudy. Glad I went earlier in the day. Small area to shoot, surrounded by construction. Not very picturesque

So Steve - is it dangerous? Can we get some good shots? Looks like you got a bunch of great ones. Humm I'm driving down from Nashua NH - 1.5 hours.

Thanks Steve. I guess I will go and just get what I can. I's a beautiful night. We will see.

Can we still see the sunset and moon today considering the raining whether after 7PM??

    September 21, 2013

  • Anthony K.

I knew about the construction there back in August and did mention about it before opening this Meetup event. If you are still interested, then join us on this beautiful evening to enjoy the views of Scituate Harbor/Lighthouse. Sun sets at 6:40pm and try to arrive earlier so you will have enough time to find your shooting spot. In case you arrive late, you can find us around the sea wall or near the lighthouse.

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Are these photos real with the yellow?

      September 17, 2013

    • Anthony K.

Yes. Since almost every sunset is different and the color of sunsets vary from day to day.

This looks like a lot of fun, and since I will be in Pembroke most of the day at another meetup, it won't be a long trip. :) I might not arrive precisely at 6:30, but I should be there by 7pm.

    @Anthony - sure thing, but I can't find them!

    August 31, 2013

  • Anthony K.

Dan, can you post the photos I uploaded?

    August 19, 2013

  • Anthony K.

I found out they have started working to repair the seawall there and we may get construction trucks & excavators in our photos.

Depending on the date and time, sounds like a great location!
