Intro. to Studio Lighting

It's always good to go over the basics of studio lighting and setting up backdrops. This meetup is for less experienced studio photographers wanting to learn the basics.

We'll cover:

1. High key setup
2. Low key setup
3. Light modifiers such as the soft box, beauty dish, grids, gels, and scrim.
4. Ring flash lighting

IMPORTANT
You need to have a camera that has a hot shoe that can accept the Pocket Wizard radio trigger. This is most digital SLR cameras except for Sony. Also, bonus if your camera has a PC jack. Bring your camera manual in case we need to refer to it. Sony users can come if you have a Sony flash.

You'll also need to know how to set your camera to manual shooting mode.

The meetup event fee is $35, which covers instruction, studio rental, and model's fee.

Our first model is Dakota.

We have a second model to be announced shortly.

Excellent. Exactly as described. I learned the effect of each type of light/modifier. Carlton is an excellent instructor. Friendly cooperative group that shared nicely.

This workshop was amazing! I learned so much about different types of lighting! Carlton, you did a wonderful job on the "flow" of this class and providing us with opportunities to shoot! Also, you and Yvonne were so helpful with all of the questions posed. This is a workshop I could take again and learn even more. Thank you for a great class! Michaela, you rocked the modeling!

Joyce and I wish we had signed up sooner too! Definitely interested in this if you have the opportunity to do it again! Thanks, Carlton!

Wish there was a spot left. I should have gotten in on this one sooner. Maybe you could plan the same class another time ?

Sorry it's on the 30th! It's our wedding anniversary that day, and I promised the wife I'd take her out for a nice dinner. If I told her I was going to a lighting class instead that evening, then I think I'd be sleeping in the garage for weeks to come!
