147 High Street, Medford, MA
As Long Night Full Moon rises....and Winter Solstice is coming........we are called together to share the traditions that have helped folks get through the darkest time of the year….a darkness that may be more deeply felt this year….reminding us of needing the comfort and shared wisdom of community….Please Note: in this spirit, we are inviting men, women, families to join us as well!
We invite you to help one another find inspiration and community in this difficult time. Come to the UU Church of Medford on December 11 from 3 to 6 PM to share what is helping you cope and move forward in your life as a citizen with humanity. That may be a poem, a song, an action plan or healing touch. If nothing has helped so far, then remember- knowing our insufficiency is part of our Spiritual Path. December traditions have always been created to help us through the dark time of the year…as harvest ends….cold winds blow and we move toward the longest night of our seasons….we bring in the greens to remember spring will come….we light up our homes and neighborhoods to remember we can give light to one another and to reassure us of the sun’s return…we gather together to generously share food when the harvest has ended and next year’s is far away.
So……in addition to bringing your traditions, treasures and creativity ….we are inviting you to share with our community----in the form of a poem, a petition, a song or a cut from a CD, an action plan, healing touch…or something else that is helping you get through this dark time……..
Poetry/Sayings/Writings Table: if you have something in writing to share, please consider bringing multiple copies so they can be taken home as comfort & nourishment….
Action Plans Table: if you are planning an action, or circulating a petition, or raising funds as a response to these times, please bring your materials with clear instructions so that you are also free to circulate in our marketplace and giveaway area….
Healing Touch: we will create an area where healing touch can be reciprocally offered and received….
Music: we will provide a cd boombox so that inspiring/soothing cuts of music can be played throughout the afternoon….we will also have some time for singing together: if you want to share a song please consider bringing copies of the lyrics so that many can join you!
Please RSVP and tell us:
