let's meetup at Dante's to hear a fantastic singer, songwriter, and guitarist, les sampou. les plays bluesy folk with some twang and a honky-tonk attitude -- in short, roots music, americana. les has just released her latest CD, "Lonesomeville". it's about good people poorly matched. it's about intense longing and mournful laments and risking heartache. and sometimes it's a penetrating look in the mirror. it's life's soundtrack, wrenched from the soul. we like it. check out les's site here:
http://lessampou.com/.... here's what the Boston Globe said about "Lonesomeville":
"On her long-awaited fifth album, 'Lonesomeville,' Les Sampou soars over a bracing set of sly, lived-in songs about mismatched lives, hard goodbyes, and honky tonk heartbreak. With a tough and tender voice that can be every bit as stinging or sultry as her slide guitar, Sampou deftly mixes bluesy soul with country twang and down-to-earth storytelling. All of which makes 'Lonesomeville' not such a bad place to be after all -- especially if she's playing there." some notes: i'll be there early anyway, so if there's sufficient interest, i'm willing to meet for dinner. if you RSVP Yes or Maybe, please answer the question about meeting for dinner. i'm think we should shoot for 8p or so to allow time to gather and then eat before the show. note: if there are a significant number of diners, i'll ask that we either keep our own tabs or split the group into multiple tabs. i have a Y chromosome so i can't keep track of myself; keeping 10 or 12 people's tabs straight is way beyond me.
