Guest Speaker - Roger Montti of Martinibuster.com

Classic SEO versus User Experience.

User Experience as SEO is one of the most important developments in online marketing because it calls into question "classic" online marketing practices such as starting with a list of keywords then developing the page structure around that. Sites like those operated by Demand Media have experienced significant declines in my opinion largely because of keyword strategies that ignored the user experience.

8:00 - 8:30 Open Internet Marketing Q & A

We open the Q&A and discussion to possibly expand on other topics beyond the presentation.

8:30 to 8:45 Open Challenge Questions

Time to get advice to help fellow internet marketers.

8:45pm The End

We look forward to seeing you all at this informal Boston search engine round table discussion!

Never a dull moment. Paid event quality for free. Excellent. Excellent.

Thank you! The reason I started speaking at events in the first place was because of dissatisfaction with the quality of information available at the paid conferences. As someone who enjoys listening to someone with something good to say, I try to be that way as well.

Very happy that I was there to hear what Roger had to say. It's hard to keep up with the changing environment of SEO and he's right there on the cutting edge.

Thanks for your feedback! I spend a considerable amount of time reading research papers in order to understand the technologies. I'm glad you enjoyed my presentation. :)

Roger is a fine presenter. Based on my professional experience as a former search engine product manager and former colleague of folks at Google, Roger explained key search functionality very thoroughly and did so without getting lost in the technical aspects of search.

Thanks for the feedback, Don! Search technology is presented by the engines using lots of opaque terminology so my goal is to communicate it in plain English.

A copy of the presentation as well as other cool stuff is up at http://www.martinibuster.com/downloads/

I have now heard numerous times by SEO experts that businesses SHOULD be using our site, wyngspan.com, as an added tool for enhancing their overall SEO. So, if you have clients that you help with SEO and would like to learn more about our company, contact me! [masked].

Last nights seminar was awesome, informative and eye opening! Thank you!

Thank you for arranging this meetup! I learned a lot from Roger's presentation.

If it's OK with the organizers, I'd like to provide a more detailed introduction of my organization needs around SEO, since there's ample opportunity for assistance -- in both paid and pro bono services we need. Warning: we have a VERY small budget.

I am a webmaster for my sites (more like webjunior):

    https://www.youtube.com/user/ADRSupport/videos
    www.whyamistillsick.com
    https://www.facebook.com/whyamistillsick

There's more to it, but that's it for now. Thank you all.

Great info on the evolution and current state of search algorithms from Roger Montti!

If you offer a free service that is used for SEO enhancement, how would one go about bringing it to the groups attention? Is that what the 1 minute elevator pitch is for? Or are there other interactive ways to get involved?

    September 14, 2015

    • Pete D.

Yes, the "1 minute elevator pitch" is the best time to tell the entire audience something like this. It's one of the first things we do, so don't be late!

      September 14, 2015

  • Andrew M.

To be clear, we are NOT an "SEO service". It just so happens businesses members on our site have experienced enhanced SEO as result of using our site.
