Hi Mary,

I thought I would be more into these rides when I first joined Boston Scoots.  However, for me, the main reason why I don't attend too often is is that I have take my scooter to work rather that the train.  It actually takes longer than riding the T from Hyde Park but most of all, its quite nerve racking with the morning traffic.

Also, I think we are seeing poor attendance because of the following:

1)  The frequency is too often.  I think if you make the event less frequent, folks might look forward to an occasional meet up rather than thinking "I'll just go next week if I miss this one".

2)  Folks might be more up for an early Saturday or Sunday AM ride.  Again not too often.  Its summer, and everyone has their summer traditions and destinations to go to.

3)  After work, the traffic is horrible.  maybe 7 PM might be better?

4)  Itinerary.  If there was a planned destination (not your responsibility).  Folks who live closer to  that destination might be more interested.  An open itinerary, might make some folks concerned about traveling too far.

Those are just a few thoughts.  Maybe we will see more interest in September.

By the way,  I know you made in impact for the scooter parking in Boston.  Therefore, I would like to exend a very big thank you for all of your work.

- Mike

I think the night is good. I think the time is good, too. We're just hitting people's vacation schedules. I was away for two weeks covering the oil spill in the Gulf. I have something this Wed as well, but after that I'm good til fall. Others might be in a similar boat.

I would be up for trying a Saturday ride if you think it would get 10 or so folks.

Jeff

Hi All,

Participation in our weekly meetups has been pretty slim (including me missing twice in July due to vacation). I'd love to keep to keep the weekly meetup going but am struggling to figure out how to increase participation. Different evening or start-time? Specific destination? Any ideas or insights would be appreciated.
