What sort of art do you enjoy, create or aspire to create?

I am a beginner-intermidiate level. I like primarily to draw the figure. I use pencil. What else, I also paint from photographs at home. My style develops every day but I consider myself realistic. I want to evolve towards a more abstract style but that will take a lot of time. Right now, my goal is to get to draw and paint more often, since I have a busy job. Meeting with other people can be a way to have more discipline, I think. I started doing water-colors on my own, then I took drawing lessons at the school of Fine arts. After a semester drawing I moved into painting. I took two semesters of painting at Boston University and at the School of Fine Art and last year I paint at home with an artist who now moved back to New Orleans. I found sketching the most difficult thing, because it is a kind of fast-drawing and I like to pay attention to detail, but I think it is very challenging and I am willing to try it out. I am not into landscape, though. I like drawing the human figure.

My name is Marta. I am from Spain and I came to Boston to get a Ph D. in Literature. I teach Spanish at BU and in my free time I am learning to draw and to paint. I used to draw in coffees on my own and I would love to join this group.
