As most of you are aware, opening day for the Red Sox is almost upon us. Sunday April 4 (Easter Sunday) the Sox take on the Yankees at Fenway at 5:05PM. Let's start the baseball season off right with a big watch party gathering. For a change, we'll be gathering at a very Red Sox friendly place called the Fremont Dock. Owner Matt Baker (who is on our list) is a life long Sox fan and has re-furnished this venue as a more sports oriented venue complete with many large flat screen TV's. He has the baseball satellite TV package (along with some other sports) so he can show any Sox game all season.
Some of you may be wondering why the change in venue so here's some background on the decision. For most of us, Spitfire has treated us great and the venue works very well for us for football. But now that they have many other groups, agendas and parties throughout the year, planning large gatherings there for baseball is somewhat challenging. The Owl & Thistle has certainly been good to us too, but they can only show nationally televised games and it's a challenge to get there during Sounders, Seahawks, and Mariners game days. Matt reached out to us shortly after he purchased the Dock. Steve Lessard and I checked it out, liked it, and felt that it can serve as a consistent meeting place that has good food and is comfortable. I'll be very interested in getting feedback from you all as the season goes on and hopefully during playoffs.
The Fremont Dock is located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle at 1102 N. 34th St., close to the intersection of 34th and Stone Way. It is also accessible by taking Route 99. More info can be found on their website http://www.fremontdoc... (http://www.fremontdock.com/) . There's a map on that site. Limited parking is available in their lot, but my understanding is that there is a large nearby lot that patrons can use for free in the evenings. There is also a fair amount of street parking in the general area.
Hope to see many of you this Sunday!
P.S. For those of you who can't make it, the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
