Greeting Fellow Volunteers,
Looking for a fun new way to volunteer? Help seniors, children and people with disabilities get healthy exercise and feel welcome and included at dozens of fun community salsa events this summer and beyond!
Side benefit: Learn to dance salsa (or improve your moves if you already know how) and meet lots of great people who care about helping their communities!
When & Where:
Thursday, May 30, 6-8pm**
Courtyard Marriott's "Club Caribe"
777 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA 02139
**This first week focuses on helping people who are blind and deaf. There will be similar meet-ups on Thursday, June 6 & 13 to learn to help children, seniors, and people with other types of disabilities or barriers to participation. (more information below)
Schedule of Meet-up:
6-6:45 pm Join us for conversation and drinks (cash bar) to begin a discussion on the many benefits salsa can have for you and how you can help others. You will meet and hear presentations from the program directors, and Kerry Thompson--a salsa instructor who is deaf and partially blind, and inspires hundreds of others to try!
6:45-7:45 pm Take an instructional class on the basics of salsa and ways you can help those with disabilities learn it too.
7:45-8 pm Q & A with program staff. Meet-up/Training wraps up, and you can sign up for volunteer shifts for the upcoming community events.
Still feel like dancing afterwards? Take a class or two (8-10pm) and dance the night away at Club Caribe (from 10pm-1am).
Special Discounts available JUST for Boston Volunteers!
$5 Cover Charge (usually $12)
$5 for 2 Dance Lessons (usually $10)
Each week will focus on a different group of people who would love your help learning....and may feel shy or excluded if you are not there to help and encourage them!
May 30: People who are deaf, blind, mute or have a combination of disabilities that can make the process of learning to dance a challenge
June 6: Senior Citizens and people with disabilities that cause difficulty with mobility
June 13: Children and youth of all ages, including those with disabilities.
Can't make it on a Thursday, but still want to volunteer?
Just contact us at 888 982 6382 or at email@example.com , and we'll let you know about other ways to get involved.
