Join us for an evening of volunteering at the Braintree Community Youth Center (BCYC). The Youth Center is open Fridays and Saturdays for Braintree teens in grades 6-12. It's a safe place for them to hang out and socialize with their friends.

Please be advised we are hosting this event immediately before our normal Saturday night opening. This will allow you to stay for 1/2-1 hr (or more) if you would like to "check it out" and see what a somewhat typical night will be like.

As volunteers we oversee that they have a safe environment, interact with them and socialize with other volunteers. There are a few key roles for volunteers starting with the door greeter, a snack bar 'attendant' and then the rest of the volunteers are on the 'floor.' You will quickly and easily learn about all of these volunteer activities/roles and can decide which one suits you best or try them all out. (If you would like to read volunteer descriptions please email me directly and allow me to reply directly to your email so I can attach the documents in my reply.) Various volunteers will help us out throughout the evening as we meet them all, learn the different roles of volunteers and meet some of the teens.

Some of the activities that can be enjoyed at the Youth Center are pool, ping pong, large flat-screen tv w/ surround sound (this is sooo cool), xbox and other video game systems, snacks and drinks, games, or just lounging around and socializing. We as volunteers can enjoy these amenities as well, either with the teens or with each other. (I personally have played ping pong and pool with both teens and volunteers.)

This is a fun inexpensive night out (or in, depending on how you look at it) with friends. As volunteers we get free snacks so it only costs you time (and maybe some transportation money). If you decide you would like to volunteer at the youth Center again you can let one of the regular volunteers know and then you will be asked to fill out a volunteer information form along with a CORI check. Come on out for a fun inexpensive evening with new friends!

Tonight you will meet current, new and potential volunteers as we give you information on volunteer opportunities at the Braintree Community Youth Center.
