Free walking tours of the Rockport Cultural District start up again Memorial Day weekend, taking visitors to various historic and scenic spots in the small seaside village and art colony.
The approximately one-hour tours, led by local volunteers, starting off in the heart of the downtown in Dock Square are offered Saturdays and Sunday at 10 a.m. through late June. Beginning June 27, the tours will be offered daily through Labor Day, Sept. 5.
Walkers learn about Rockport’s fishing and quarrying history and its place as a haven for artists for more than a century among other stories.
Residents and visitors alike enjoyed the bits and pieces of local lore offered in the 2015 inaugural season.
I'm told that there should be parking around Dock Square that early.
