What does the term "Bougie" actually mean, and where did it come from in the first place?
The 'bougie' backstory...
Well, even though it might seem current, the term bougie actually has a 100-year history (and multiple spellings) dating back to revolutionary France, before stemming off into variations of the slang word we know and love today.
So bougie, boujee, bourgie all stem from bourgeoisie, a French word that simply means "of middle class status."
That said, this group will be comprised of middle class, black couples that just want to socialize with other like minded, bougie black folks. If you are an African American couple in your 40s-50s, live in the Inland Empire, middle to upper class and seeking others like you... you're welcome to join. This group isn't about traveling together, or always scheduling an event because we're all busy! It's more about like minded people getting together occassionally to socialize, meet new friends and talk about what's going on in our lives and country. We'll probably do plenty zoom meetings initially to get acquainted while COVID-19 is still active.
