WHAT: This one is for all you folks just getting started. In this class, you'll learn the different types of systems typically used, the dos and don'ts, terminology, and basic care of fish, plants, water, and bacteria. The aim of this class is to let you ask all the questions you have about aquaponics, hopefully answer them all, and leave you with a few resources to get started building your first aquaponics system.
One common misconception about aquaponics is that you need lots and lots of space to build a system. Not true! I'm here to show you that there is no home too small for an aquaponics system. Since my experience with aquaponics thus far has mostly revolved around small, indoor systems, that is the topic on which this class will primarily focus. However, the beauty of aquaponics is that is scales very easily. Thus, the information you gain here can be applied to systems both big and small.
WHO: Hosted By Joel. I am not an expert by any means, but I have two systems under my belt.
WHEN: Saturday, February 1, 2014, 1:00-3:00pm
WHERE: Solid State Depot, the Boulder Hackerspace[masked]rd. Street Unit B
WHY: To teach all you beginners that it doesn't take much to grow your own fresh veggies year round.
COST: Free! Though if you feel you got a lot out of the class, we do accept donations in all monetary forms. Money raised at classes and workshops will be funneled back into the group to help acquire materials for group aquaponic builds.
