BoulderJS 2013

A former member
The first BoulderJS meetup of 2013 just finished and I got a lot of good ideas from those of you who talked to me.

For 2013 we're looking at introducing some improvements:

  • Lighting talk nights -- 3 or 4 short (10 to 15 minute) presentations on a variety of javascript-related topics.  This gives you the opportunity to hear a lot of great things all in one night and it also gives you the chance to present if you didn't have an hour's worth of material.  This also gives us the opportunity to present at multiple skill levels on the same evening.
  • Consistent Day/Time -- A number of you mentioned that introducing some consistency would be a good thing.  Tentatively we're talking about the first Tuesday of every month.  There is a thread on the meetup site where you can share your thoughts about this here.

The big thing BoulderJS needs is speakers.  There are two ways to give your input here.

  • Be A Speaker -- Post your ideas in this thread.  You can do a short 10 to 15 minute format or a longer 60 minute presentation.  For the lightning talks there's no need to be an expert; just show off something you figured out, a project you built, or a library that you think is really cool.
  • Ask For A Topic -- Post your wishlist for presentations here.  For those of you javascript experts in the group that would be fine with giving a talk about something but don't have an ideas, check our this thread for ways that you can share your knowledge.
