2 DAY BACKPACKING TRIP TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

1)[masked]- Day One (Saturday)- Meet in Lyons, CO., then carpool to Wilderness office to pick up permit. Park & start at Bear Lake Trailhead. Hike up and over Flattop Mountain and down to July Group Campground.
(7 miles, 2850 ft. elevation gain and 1570 ft elevation loss). This is a short (7 miles) but not an easy backpacking trip. Experienced backpackers only.
Approx. travel time: 6 to 7 hrs. Ave. 1 mph going up and 2-3 mph going down. There is water at campground. The rangers suggest bringing traction devices.
2)[masked]- Day Two(Sunday)- Reverse trip. Hike from July Group Campground to Bear Lake Trailhead.

Optional lunch or dinner in Lyons at Mojo Tacqueria.

LIMITED TO ONLY 12 BACKPACKERS: THIS IS A WAITING LIST ONLY EVENT: Just add your name to the waiting list. This is not a first come, first serve event. Hikers will be added when organizers are satisfied with their abilities to complete hike.

COSTS OF TRIP WILL BE SHARED. CARPOOLING IS MANDATORY ($5 SUGGESTED DONATION TO YOUR DRIVER)

RMNP requires a bear canister and no pets allowed.

I voluntarily accept these risks along with any and all similar risks. I understand that this outdoor activity may be physically strenuous and requires a certain level of physical fitness. I disclose that I am in good physical condition, can meet the rigors of this event, and have not been advised otherwise by a physician. I assume the risks of any medical conditions I may have. In consideration of my application, and permitting me to participate in this event; I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows: (A) Waive, Release, and Discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue as a result of my participation in or travel to and from this event; THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: The Colorado Backpackers (and Campers)Meetup Group, Bill Zurinskas, organizer, and any organizer of any meetup posted by this Meetup Group; and (B) Indemnify and Hold Harmless the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of my participation in, and travel to and from, this event.
You may also be required to sign the safety and liability waiver prior to each event as presented by each individual organizer. Each participant accepts responsibility for their own conduct and safety (including the safety of your snowshoe equipment and any other equipment) during meetup rides. You take part in this meetup entirely at your own risk.
