• Building Community Through Timebanking!, Intro for Prospective Members

Boulder Public Library - Main Library

This event is being held for prospective members and new members. How would you like to get the support you need to make your life easier, while supporting others doing what you love, and make a difference in your community? How would it feel to participate in those connections and relationships all outside of the conventional for-profit economy? Please join me and other members of TimeBank Boulder - a non-profit exchange organization with 135 members - to learn how you can trade your services through the use of time credits. Within TimeBanking, everyone’s skills are equally valued, no matter what the service. For every hour you spend doing something for someone in the TimeBanking Community, you earn one Time Dollar, which you can then use to spend on receiving another's gifts and talents. Simple, but powerful! The movie "Fix the Future” offers a couple of other examples of how this new kind of community is working: https://bit.ly/2VNeB30 and https://bit.ly/2J1Ub4M It’s also a great way to practice asking for assistance, and for entrepreneurs to offer a set amount of hours toward Timebanking to assist those clients that can’t afford their typical rates. Those who join this event will have an opportunity to draft a brief bio, gain clarity on the gifts and talents they'd like to share with others, and draft an ASK for those activities they would prefer to delegate. If you decide to become a member, stay for the new member orientation so you can start participating in the time bank exchanges! Agenda: ⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞ 6:00 - 6:10pm: Recognize the benefits of TimeBanking and determine if it’s a fit (Kelly Mullen, Jamie Enstrom) 6:10 - 6:25pm: Complete your bio (Kelly Mullen, Jamie Enstrom) 6:25 - 6:45pm: Complete an OFFER that captures what you love to do, and a REQUEST for services you’d rather delegate to the Timebanking community (Kelly Mullen, Jamie Enstrom) ORIENTATION - For participants that want to continue signing up for a membership: 6:45 - 7:15pm: Timebanking Software Demo (Ashley Doriss) 7:15 - 7:25pm: Q&A (Ashley Doriss) 7:25 - 7:45: Complete applications (Ashley Doriss) 7:45 - 7:50pm: Identify next steps to begin exchanges (Ashley Doriss) What to Bring: ⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞⏞ This event is free, but if you decide to become a member, please bring cash, or your checkbook. • TimeBank Crafters: Laugh and Craft!

    Boulder

    • What we'll do Join us for Crafts and Laughs! Bring your portable project! Jewelry-making, knitting, drawing, scrapbooking, mending, crocheting--anything you can do in someone's living room is welcome. We can show off current projects, share techniques, problem-solve, discuss ideas, or simply work on your own Unfinished Object! • What to bring Whatever handicraft project you would like to work on. Snacks to share! • Important to know Those who are skilled are happy to help teach knitting or crocheting. If anyone wants to do charity projects, we know a website that actively participates in multiple charities. We'll email you the exact address several days before the event. May's event will be at Gail's house, in North West Boulder. Carpooling is really helpful because there is not much parking. Members rotate hosting the TimeBank Crafters group at their homes. Ideally we'd have one meeting per month. With frequent meetings, we get to know each other better as we have a great time! Because the Craft and Laugh is held in a private residence, it is required that you be a member of TimeBank Boulder to be able to attend. To learn more or to join, visit our website at http://timebankboulder.org/ and click on "Join" at the top right. (Our members would like to know something about you before inviting you into their homes.) Please check the listing for other events, that are open to the public!

  • Budget Bustin' Brainstormin' Binge

    Jan's house

All of us are smarter than one of us! Let's come together and: BRAINSTORM: bring ideas, tips, coupons, resources, strategies, secret knowledge, musings, TimeBank tips, rebates, and more....... to figure out ways we can stretch our budget this year and Save. Money. We'll figure out ways to bust our budgets and buy big, buy best, and buy frugally (thanks Susan) so we can binge spend in other areas LOL! And we'll also have a nice evening with our friendly TimeBankering friends in the process! At our first meeting, we identified general areas or topics for saving money: general, gasoline, groceries, clothing, household items, utilities, gifts, entertainment, pharmaceuticals/medical/health/wellness, pets, and cleaning. We took 2 topics and discussed them: general and clothing. At this our second meeting, the group will select the 3 topics most of interest and see how far we get! BRING: one or two salad ingredients, or sides, or dressings, for a potluck salad. Jan will supply the lettuce and tomato. It's okay if someone brings chocolate or dessert, but not everybody okay? We will need some meats, cheeses, eggs, cucumber, olives, feta cheese, side dishes, etc for a great chef's salad! HOMEWORK IN ADVANCE: Bring a list of areas or things you would like to save money on. Okay, we can't reduce your HOA payments, but let's see what we can do in other areas. BRING ALSO: knowledge of where you're a whiz at saving money. For example Jan can tell you: *where to buy front zip sports bras for $5, new. Really comfortable. * where you can get free financial planning in Boulder (I just learned about this one!) * best places to get vitamins online at the lowest prices * Overseas pharmacies that have great prices (I pay 70% less for my cat's inhaler than Walmart pharmacy) * a new pet pharmacy that cost 50% less than my vet charged me for anti-inflammatories * make your own dishwasher soap for low cost - works great * can we, TimeBank members, find ways to get firewood together from free sources around Boulder this summer? Collaboration!!!!! * How to get rebates for shopping online..... and more! Because it is in a private residence, this event is for TIMEBANK BOULDER members only. If you are a member of the TimeBanking and Sharing Economy meetup, please join TimeBank Boulder to attend this event. Start the joining process at www.timebankboulder.org. My house is small so sign up early to assure your spot.
