Details

This is the Crater Lake in the Indian Peaks wilderness. It's one of the most beautiful hikes in all of Colorado. The spiky peak above the lake is Lone Eagle Peak.

Starting from the Brainard Lake trailhead, follow the Pawnee Pass Trail. The Pawnee Pass Trail tops out at 12,541' before it meets with the Crater Lake Trail after 8 miles. Then it's around 1 mile to Crater Lake, where we will have lunch and savor the views. Return is via the same trail.

This will make for a LONG day as the hike is 18 miles with approximately 5000' of gain.

Bring plenty of snacks, water and appropriate clothing for the hike.
