** Please note: OSMP is conducting controlled burns on Shanahan Ridge this week. We will relocate our hike this Thursday to Foothills Community Park. See description below. **
PACE: Fitness/Conversational | TERRAIN: Packed dirt multi-use path, sidewalks, and dirt trail | DISTANCE: Approx. 4 miles
Walk Description: This fitness walk/hike begins and ends at Foothills Community Park near the restrooms and the dog park, going south along multi-use paths onto sidewalks in the Wonderland Hills neighborhood, and looping back north on the Foothills Trail, taking a short side trip (less than a mile) on the Old Kiln Trail. Along the way, hikers will see some beautiful views of Wonderland Lake, the foothills, and the eastern plains. The route includes gentle hills, with little, but some, elevation gain.
Walking Movement Leader: Lorrie Johnson lives in North Boulder and is eager to share the beautiful surroundings with other people.
Schedule and Planning: There are two parking lots at Foothills Community Park: We will meet at the parking lot near the restrooms adjacent to the dog park on 7th Street. This walk is also accessible by the SKIP bus, which stops at Broadway and Violet; the Park is a few blocks west of Broadway. We'll meet at 9:00 am and begin walking at 9:05. The walk will end by 11 am.
~ Well-socialized and well-behaved dogs are welcome on short leashes (no retractable leashes, please). Please be sure your dog will be comfortable on this longer walk.
~ Dress comfortably for the weather, bring sun protection and water, and anything else you need to stay comfortable outside.
Cancellation Policy: This event will take place regardless of the weather, unless there is a major snowstorm, excessive ice or other dangerous weather. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” (http://www.walk2connect.com/welcomewaiver/) or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience this year.
