Dear Prospective Member(s), <br>
Here’s a quick guide to our membership, how to join, subscription and some background information about Inter-Varsity Clubs (IVC).
IVC is a network of national clubs, first started in this country 70 years ago by a group of ex-graduates who wanted to continue their socialising once their time at university ended. Many years on we now have a diverse membership right across the UK.
You are able to visit and contact all of the IVC clubs, go on trips and events with them, and be part of a well established organisation. This offers so many benefits, with scope to have as much, or as little, socialising and activities as you would like, but with the knowledge that we have a national committee, AIVC, with public liability insurance for all clubs.
We strive to provide a friendly and safe environment for all our members and to help us maintain this we ask the following of our prospective members:
1. We ask you for your full name, a contactable email address and telephone number. This is so we can either post or email a membership pack to you.
2. All prospective members are invited to come along to our end of month club night, at Lynton Court, so you can meet some of us, hear more about what we offer and see if IVC is for you.
3. If you decide to go ahead, it’s £20 per annum, but as a trial/taster, it’s £5 for 3 months. Please bring along some form of ID, and you’ll then have access to all of our activities calendar on Meetup, and last but not least, you will meet us of course! Our charge(s) only covers administration fees, our levy paid to AIVC which covers insurance, and our Meetup costs.
We were solely internet based prior to moving across to Meetup, which is something several other clubs nationally have also done. If you have any further questions about the IVC you can message me through meetup here or contact us by phone on 07771 926 520.
So, that’s it in a nutshell, you’ll learn far more at club night about IVC, our members and how it will be a familiar group of friends you’ll soon come to know. It was a lifeline to me personally when I first moved to this area, well before social clubs and Meetup were commonly available. Now, these same people I first met some 5 years ago, are my closest friends. We welcome all new members, and look forward to seeing you all soon.
