“Transcending the Levels of Consciousness: Stairway to Enlightenment”

Bradenton-Sarasota Theosophical Study Group In cooperation with The St. Petersburg Theosophical Lodge “Transcending the Levels of Consciousness: Stairway to Enlightenment” a book by David Hawkins This is an ongoing study of this Hawkins book which you may purchase on Amazon.com Facilitated by Judith Snow Hosted on Zoom by Neela Chari of Mitreya Center, Bradenton First meeting of this book study Friday, January, 29, 2021, 1:45-4:00 pm Those of us striving on the path toward enlightenment will be informed and inspired by studying together this David R. Hawkins’ masterpiece. Dr. Hawkins [masked]) from a very young age began experiencing spiritually transforming events and perhaps these were the impetus for him to further explore consciousness by becoming a psychiatrist in 1952. Those of us who have had some of these experiences ourselves or want to be prepared for them when they do occur will be aided by this book. And of course a group-book study with discussion allows us to share and help each other in our quests. Dr. Hawkins has written many books and the first that received national attention was Power Versus Force in 1995, in which he gives us a Map of Consciousness using applied/behavioral kinesiology. Through his research, he and many others confirmed a calibration scale of the relative truth of ideologies, philosophers, and teachers from a range of 1 to 1,000. The level of 1, the lowest, is mere existence. The highest level for a human is 1,000 where we find the great teachers such as Jesus, Buddha, Krishna. These calibrations confirm the classical stages of human inner evolution found in the world’s sacred literature as the actual, measurable energy fields suggested by philosophers, saints, sages and mystics throughout the centuries. The power in our own group-book study on Hawkins’ "Transcending the Levels of Consciousness" is that we are given a detailed practical guide to understanding the levels of consciousness to be transcended in pursuit of spiritual advancement, enlightenment, or self-improvement. We also learn of the obstacles to overcome in order to achieve more optimal levels of consciousness. We advance our levels of consciousness as a consequence of exposure to this information, opening up avenues to the relief of suffering for ourselves and others. Future meetings planned for Fridays, February 12 and 26 and ongoing. Email: Judith Snow [masked] if you are interested. Theosophy exists to serve humanity by encouraging open-minded inquiry into world religions, philosophy, science and the arts in order to understand the wisdom of the ages, respect the unity of all life, and help people explore spiritual self-transformation.
