Hershel Toomim passed away at 4 am Tuesday July 19, 2011.
He was in Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. More info on services will come later.
Hershel had just turned 95 on June 19, 2011. He was an amazingly creative scientist, good friend, warm man and early pioneer in the field of biofeedback. He and his wife Marjorie Toomim started the Biofeedback Institute of Los Angeles, where I studies in 1984 and which is the sole sponsor of this group
Hershel had been gracious to open up his home/office to this meetup group for various speakers.

Here is a nice article written about him:

Our thoughts are with Hershel, his family, the Biofeedback Institute of Los Angeles, and the Biofeedback community. Hershel had a jovial spirit, and was a very intelligent, inventive and generous man. We are grateful to Hershel and his staff for sharing his office space with us as venue sponsor for our in-house lectures. Hershel gave freely of himself, and shared his knowledge with a giving spirit.

He gave the world many contributions through his wonderful inventions including the Spacephone walkie talkie, Rangerhorn hand-held megaphone, and Space Control for which he was inducted into the Radio Control Hall of Fame. http://www.rchalloffa....

With his electrical engineering background and successful inventions, he made significant neurotechnological contributions since the 1970's, furthering the discoveries and findings of Biofeedback. He invented the HEG (hemoencephalography: blood/brain), HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen treatment) and Biocomp machines (readings of certain biological reactions), amongst a long list of notable inventions. Hershel was a recipient of the Biofeedback Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 and the Lifetime Achievement Award of California in 2002.

A brilliant man, and generous soul, Hershel consistently demonstrated his concern for community and all people by sharing his knowledge with a giving heart.

Thank you, Hershel. You will be missed.

The Biofeedback Institute of Los Angeles and The Biocomp Research Institute, both founded by Hershel, will continue on with its work through its staff... many of you may remember Stephanie Dupont, Psy.D. who will continue on with her work there. http://www.biocompres.... Wishing Stephanie, Bob and everyone there continued success.
