    DAY 1

    SATURDAY:  TOKYO

    Welcome to Tokyo - Japan’s capital is a dazzling mixture of everything traditional and modern. Neon-lit skyscrapers and ancient temples and shrines are blended together in a country that is passionate about their culture and traditions but also stays on top of everything that is new and fashionable. You will be welcomed by your English speaking guide and travel on public transportation to Hotel Listel Shinjuku in Tokyo. Enjoy the rest of evening free at your leisure.


    Day 2:

    SUNDAY:  TOKYO

    Wake in the morning to meet with your English speaking guide to begin a full day of Tokyo sightseeing. Visit the Asakusa Kannon Temple which is Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple. Next check out the Nakamise Dori street full of shopping and the best place to buy souvenirs. You’ll be amazed by the colourful fashion of the famous Harajuku district. Next visit the Meiji Shrine which is located in a beautiful 170 acre forest. There are[masked] trees of 365 species donated by people from all over Japan. This is the Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shokene. You will also take some time to visit Yoyogi Park which is a popular spot for artists and activity groups to meet and relax. It was the home of the athletes village during the 1964 Olympics. Also take in the organized chaos of Shibuya Crossing, arguably the busiest and most famous intersection in the world. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore on your own.

    DAY  3

    MONDAY:  TOKYO-KAMAKURA-TOKYO

    Set off on a full-day excursion tour by private bus to Kamakura. See Kotoku-in, a Buddhist temple that enshrines Kamakura Daibutsu, also known as The Great Buddha. The Great Buddha is a massive copper statue that weighs 121 tons and is over 11 metres high. It is a unique National Treasure. Next visit the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shopping district. Then experience a traditional Tea Ceremony and tasting in Kamakura. Enjoying a traditional green tea and ceremony is a must when in Japan!

    DAY  4

    TUESDAY:  TOKYO

    Today spend half of the day exploring the Edo Tokyo Museum which vividly illustrates the past of Tokyo. In an interactive way, visitors are able to experience and learn about various aspects of earlier Tokyo, such as the way of life of people from the Edo period. Through numerous models of towns, figurines and life-sized figures, the museum makes it interesting to learn about how towns were constructed in the past. There are also many artefacts such as kimono gowns, paintings and everyday materials that help transport visitors through time in a fun way.

    DAY  5

    WEDNESDAY:  TOKYO- KAWAGUCHIKO

    Leave the hotel for Kawaguchiko by private bus. Experience the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway which takes you 1000 metres above sea level to an observation deck with spectacular views of Mt Fuji. After these breathtaking views, head back to the hotel and experience a traditional Japanese dinner.          

    *** Heavy baggage is transported separately from the hotel in Tokyo to the hotel in Kyoto by courier service  arriving on the next day. Please prepare a hand-carried bag for your 1-night stay at Kawaguchiko.

    DAY  6

    THURSDAY: KAWAGUCHIKO- KYOTO

    Today you will leave for Mishima Station by private bus. Once you arrive at Mishima Station you will take the Kodama Shinkansen high-speed train for Kyoto Station. Arrive in Kyoto ready for an exciting day of sightseeing in the Gion Geisha District. This is the city’s most famous entertainment district and the heart of its traditional arts scene. It was originally built in the middle ages to accommodate visitors and travellers to the Yasaka Shrine. Transfer to the hotel by private bus and check into Hotel Gimmond Kyoto.

    DAY  7

    FRIDAY: KYOTO

    Leave the hotel after breakfast by private bus to Nijo-jo Castle. The castle was built in 1603 for the first shogun Tokugawa. This is one of Kyoto’s many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next visit the Kinkaku-ji Temple, which is one of the most popular Zen Buddhist temples in Japan. It is a beautiful site, nicknamed the Gold Pavilion because the top two floors of the temple are covered in gold leaf and it sits overlooking a tranquil pond. It is beautiful Japanese architecture and scenery at their best.

    SATURDAY:  KYOTO

    Today you will have a farewell breakfast in the hotel and check out with the help of your tour guide.
