This group is for anyone recovering from trauma or PTSD that is looking for a community and a safe place for healing.
Through gentle yoga, meditation, and breath work we will meet once a month to heal together. 1st time beginners in yoga to all skill levels are welcome. I will try to schedule the meetups for Friday evenings. Different locations to be announced in the North Jersey area. There is no fee however donations are accepted. The monthly meeting will be one hour of gentle grounding yoga, a short break, then time to share with a cup of tea. If you are not comfortable with sharing you may leave after the yoga session. Please bring your own yoga mat and comfortable clothes to practice in. There will be a release of liability waiver that must be signed in order to participate in the yoga class.
Being personally diagnosed with PTSD, I started this group because I saw what yoga has done for me and I want to share that. I have my 200 and 300 Registered Teachers Training certificates as well as additional trainings in trauma, yin yoga, and chair yoga. Some of the influences you will see in this meetup are; Bhagavad Gita a New Translation by Stephen Mitchell and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Sri Swami Satchidananda. Some recommended reading for dealing with PTSD; The Body Keeps Score by Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk and Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine.
