This group is dedicated to... Forró lovers in Nova Zelândia. Visit us here: http://www.forronewzealand.co.nz/

Forró (faw-haw, with slight emphasis on the second syllable) is a national dance of Brazil.

Originating no Nordeste do Brasil (in the Northeast region of Brazil), its rhythm is danced throughout the entire country, and even as far away as New Zealand

The dance is at least 50 years old and the music is older. In fact, the music predates the name, Forró, which some believe to be a distortion of the English "for all", though others believe it to be shortened from the term "forrobodó" meaning party (literally a chaotic situation involving many people).

The music began very simple, with three instruments: the triangle (triângulo), accordion (sanfona), and the zabumba.

Feel free to post Forró videos, music and thoughts!
