Sutro Stewards is a project of the San Francisco Parks Alliance, and their mission is to create urban recreational opportunities in the UCSF Mt Sutro Open Space Reserve while practicing sustainable habitat conservation through stewardship. Since 2006, they have mobilized volunteers to build trails, remove invasive species, and grow and install native plants.

The Bridgemen recently enjoyed the fruits of their labor when we did an urban hike from Strut up to Mt Sutro on April 28, so we know firsthand the value of maintaining such ecological spaces for recreational purposes. Now we have an opportunity to contribute to that maintenance! We will be participating in a trail and habitat restoration workday. We will work 9 AM to 12:30 PM and then break for lunch and refreshments, compliments of Sutro Stewards and UCSF!

Gloves and tools will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes, sun protection and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Please also wear a Bridgemen T-shirt. If you don’t yet have a Bridgemen T-shirt, please tell Alex your T-shirt size BEFORE 5 PM, 07/20/18, so that he knows to bring one for you.
