Founded in 1920, Glide Memorial Church is the heart and soul of San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. Since the 1960s, Glide has provided various services for the poor and disenfranchised and currently runs 87 various social service programs. Glide began their Daily Free Meals Program in 1969 as a volunteer-run potluck for 50, and they now serve over 2,000 meals a day with the help of 30 kitchen and security staff and thousands of volunteers each year. Glide's program is the only one in San Francisco that provides 3 nutritious meals a day, 364 days a year, to the city's poor, homeless and hungry.
Bridgemen are honored to be participating in this tradition once again. We will be helping to serve meals in their Daily Free Meals Program. We will assemble in front of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation at 1035 Market Street and will walk as a group up to Glide. Primary duties will include preparing and serving food trays, bussing trays and dish washing. Hairnets, gloves and aprons will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of many disadvantaged San Franciscans.
Please wear a Bridgemen T-shirt if you have one. If you don’t yet have a Bridgemen T-shirt, please tell Alex your T-shirt size BEFORE 5 PM, 01/11/19, so that I know to bring one for you.
