Let’s get out and enjoy spring! For our second hike of the year, we will take a short, mostly flattish hike on San Bruno Mountain and have a member-led tour of spring wildflowers. This large landmass just south of the City is a biological hotspot because of the high incidence of rare and/or endangered species of plants, many of which were once common throughout the Bay Area. This fun and unique event was the brainchild of Bridgemen member Russ Hartman, who will also lead the tour and share his wildflower expertise!

We'll meet at the Balboa Park station at 10:30 AM for carpooling and Uber/Lyft/Flywheel shuttles to the trailhead near Crocker Ave. and South Hill Blvd. We will then hike 2 miles to the park’s main entrance where we will enjoy a picnic lunch. Restrooms are available there. This event will be B.Y.O.L. (Bring Your Own Lunch), so please arrive with your food and beverage in hand, ready to go. After lunch, we’ll return to our starting point on a different trail, for total distance of about 3.25 miles. Most of route is exposed, so wear sun and wind protection, and closed-toe shoes (sections of post-lunch trail might be muddy).

>>THIS IS EVENT IS LIMITED TO 20 TOTAL PARTICIPANTS. PLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU'RE 100% CERTAIN YOU CAN MAKE IT.

>>ALSO, PLEASE LET ALEX KNOW IF YOU'RE DRIVING AND ARE ABLE TO CARPOOL PEOPLE FROM BALBOA PARK TO THE TRAILHEAD AND BACK.

THINGS TO BRING:
-- Food and drink for yourself. Remember to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated!
-- Sunscreen and/or a hat.
-- Jacket and/or layers if it’s chilly.
