• Brighton Station/North Laine/North Street walk

    Brighton Train Station

Meeting at the station and covering a small area in around an hour, there's LOTS of history to be found here, and many a ghostsign... these are the old advertising signs from long-gone businesses, and their stories reveal Brighton history. • Kemptown 1 hour tour

    Location visible to members

Exploring the history of this area of Brighton, designed and built (with great financial difficulties) by Thomas Read Kemp in the early 19th Century. The ghostsigns (old faded advertising) reveal social history via businesses and organisations in operation throughout time - and there are some whoppers in this area! With a bit of Brighton general history thrown in, and a few questions you'll ask that I don't know the answers to (but I will get back to you), this should make for a fun and interesting Saturday morning walk! No charge for this, but donations are welcome, if you find you've enjoyed yourself.
