Tai Chi on the Crescent

Adelaide Crescent Gardens

Start your Sunday off the right way, come join us for a bit of tai chi overlooking the sea. A few minutes of gentle stretching followed by sections of the Yeung Family form (Yang Style). No experience necessary. When the sun is out and the skies are blue, "sublime" is the word that comes to mind. Even the grey days don't seem so grey as we help you make your own sun! The session is led by Kevin Bryant, a 24-year practitioner of Yeung Family Tai Chi. He has studied with some of the modern greats of Yeung Family Tai Chi and he is a long time teacher in Surrey where he has taught hundreds of students. He moved to Hove in 2013 and has begun to build a presence in the Brighton area. This is a free session although donations are welcome.

Introduction to Yang Family Tai Chi

Unity Studio (downstairs)

You will learn the basics of original Yang family Tai Chi during this 6-week course, both the family's system of "Softening Exercises" and the "Long Form" in this hour long class. Big focus on softening and relaxing the body to improve health and relaxation - a necessary precursor to higher levels of the art. Tai Chi is also a wonderful complementary system for meditators and practitioners of other internal arts. Kevin Bryant, the instructor, has been a devotee of the art for over 20 years and has studied with some of the best teachers in the world, including his long-time teacher, Jim Uglow, with whom he has studied closely, for 17 years. During the last 10 years, and with his teacher's introduction, he has trained with members of the Yeung (Yang) family during annual trips to Hong Kong, most notably, Yeung Ma-Lee Sifu, the second daughter of Yeung Sau Chung, and her husband James. He has taught hundreds of students at his Surrey tai chi school which he opened in 2003. He still teaches there during weekdays and evenings and now wants to "spread the wealth" of Yeung family tai chi on the Southcoast with Friday through Monday classes. Kevin also "moonlights" as the CEO of a small consultancy after twenty years in the financial industry. Class fees are £10; £7 for OAP's and students. A further 15% discount available if all 6 classes are purchased up-front . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDn8NzTD_uQ
