Hi Guys Booze and Bookers

From: Debbie

Just a quick note to remind you of our upcoming events.

We have a monthly meetup on Monday 23rd April. This will be at JoJo's in Queen Street Mall. It is opposite Hungry Jacks up the escalator. Heaps of foods and beverages to sample. Don't freak out if you haven't read any of the books. I haven't finished one yet. It is more about good company. Meeting is set for 6.30 and we will start proceedings around 7pm.

Also this week we have

Wednesday - Free Verse at the State Library - this is sure to be a hoot

Friday - Poetry and Burlesque at Brisbane Square Library.

Next week besides our monthly meetup we also have

Tuesday - Riverbend Poetry at Bulimba

Saturday - Avengers in 3D followed by drinks at the Plough Inn. I will email details how to prebook once it is available. This will be the best way as session sell out quickly.

You may have noticed that I have had to remove myself from hosting some future events. Unfortunately I have to have surgery mid May and will be off the air for a bit. I will continue to put up events but I won't be able to attend. By the end of May I should be back on my feet. Just because I can’t  be there don’t let that stop you from attending. If you require a host just let me know and I will rustle someone up for you. These are public events so you won’t be on your own.

Any events that you do attend I ask that you leave a review. This is a great way for other members to know if they are worth attending in the future. It also helps prospective members see what we are about. It doesn’t have to be an easy. Just a simple line or two would be most helpful.

We had some awesome events last week.

Monday was at Coaldrakes for the book launch of Ian Walkley’s No Remorse.  Was a wonderful evening full of lively discussion and insight into the process of novel writing. His book has already received amazing reviews and will soon be made in to a movie. I am really looking forward to reading his book and his next instalment.

Wednesday was Global Dickens at the State Library. Celebrating 200 years since the birth of Dickens. Such an interesting discussion between four leading scholars on the works and life of Charles Dickens. This discussion went to places I did not expect including the impact of Dickens works in Asia and communist countries. Many interesting topics that I had never considered and I am interested to discover further.

Friday was back to the State Library for the Café Poet. If you missed it, you certainly missed a show. All I can say is crazy, wild and we have the photos to prove it. Go to our meetup page to see the photos.

I hope to see you some time soon. I am always available so drop me a line or post on meetup.

Kind Regards

Debbie
