Do you love books?

Find yourself transported several lightyears away reading that favourite novel of yours?

Do you consider yourself a book worm? Or, a book worm of sorts? We are launching the Brisbane Geek Book Club, a book club that will meet monthly here in Brisbane! The book club will meet at various cafe's and other venues where we can discuss everything about our favourite books, what books we have read, share books, as well as the Book of the Month! The book club will encompass a relaxed atmosphere, where members can talk to eachother about books in general. As part of the event, the book of the month will be discussed, but will not be mandatory to attend. For those who did not read the book of the month, the discussion will be a good insight or review of the book in question.

The book club will encompass books of various genres, from Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Historical Fiction, and even comics, it will be a great place to discuss your literary adventures with other like-minded book worms!

Book of the Month!

Each month, we we will be having a 'book of the month', which will be a book where members, if they want to join in on the book of the month, will be given a title to read between book club meetups.

This meet-up we are discussing 'The left Hand of Darkness' by Ursula Le Guin!

From Good Reads: A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants can choose -and change - their gender. His goal is to facilitate Winter's inclusion in a growing intergalactic civilization. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture that he encounters.

Embracing the aspects of psychology, society, and human emotion on an alien world, The Left Hand of Darkness stands as a landmark achievement in the annals of intellectual science fiction.
