Not sure you have the skills or experience necessary to volunteer? That's ok! We have many events for those new to trail maintenance and many events that don't require a horse.  All that is needed is a desire to help support our open trails.  Several of our members have pack stock and are happy to teach others how to pursue that activity in a safe manner.  Trail clearing projects are done from the ground and the Chapter members or our governmental partners provide the equipment.  We also have projects that clear vegetation from rider height with Chapter members happy to teach others how this is best accomplished.

In 2014, we volunteered 3,159 hours and contributed more than $86,000 in value to maintain Nevada trails. The more time we spend volunteering, the better position we'll be in to apply for grants or to have influence when we are advocating for trail conservation for horse enthusiasts.

If you enjoy horses, mules and the outdoors then we’d like to have you come visit us.  We are a local group of great people who enjoy trail riding, camp outs, potlucks, trail building and maintenance,  educational events, meetings every 2nd month and socializing.

As a chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Nevada (BCHN) and Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA) our goal is to ensure that there are continued recreational opportunities on public lands.

As a member of this meetup group you are not required to become a DUES PAID member of the Bristlecone Chapter BCHN  (BCHNVB); however, we encourage you to support the local trails and our mission by becoming a member of our Chapter.  As a DUES PAID member, you are able to join us on all the rides and events hosted by our organization, you will also be on our email list for immediate updates to what is going on with the group.  As a DUES PAID member, your money is used to help support our mission locally and at state and national levels.  Members of the Meetup ONLY are welcome to join us on occasional rides and events, however we do reserve most events for DUES PAID BCHNVB members only, as a Thank You for your continued support. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings, we meet the 10th of every other month starting in February and have a Christmas Meeting/Ride and Elections in December.

Please join our Meetup group to see what upcoming projects we're working on, when the next meeting is and see what fun we have riding those great trails after we work on them. You can join our Chapter by visiting our website and clicking on "Join". Become a Back Country Horsemen to meet other trail riders, learn new trails, new riding skills and hopefully volunteer to help keep trails open to horses.
