the Darius Brubeck Quartet

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Not strictly classical but great fun:
Brubeck plays Brubeck pere et fils, as the celebrated pianist Darius Brubeck – eldest son of his late, great father Dave Brubeck – returns to St George’s with his thrillingly accomplished, hard-swinging quartet of Dave O’Higgins on saxes, Matt Ridley on double bass and Wesley Gibbens on drums. Playing a programme of much-loved Dave Brubeck classics (‘In Your Own Sweet Way’, ‘Blue Rondo a la Turk’, ‘Unsquare Dance’, ’Take Five’) alongside his own rhythmically inventive, often South African-inspired, mainstream-modern compositions, and linking each piece with entertaining introductions and anecdotes.

Didn't make that one, have seen them before though! Enjoyed the Steve Reich but can't make Arvo Pirt(?) as am away in Cuba (retirement trip!) from next weekend. I have silver and purple (probably also turquoise by then if I have the courage next week!) hair, and glasses. Am off to "pianos" with my grandson shortly so will get a ticket today. Good plan to not get them though, I've been caught so often that's why I go on my own!!

Hi Alison, it would be great to meet you at the next concert. We all buy our own tickets and meet up in the bar beforehand and at the interval. That way if someone fails to show up for whatever reason the organiser isn't left with the unpaid ticket.
Were you at Katia and Marielle Labeque last night? It was sensational.

Hi there Jane, realise I have actually been to most of the concerts at St Georges that you've organised this year, would be nice to go in company, I usually just get one ticket! So I'd like a ticket for this please - do you get them (and hope for a group reduction??). Am on holiday from 6th to 22nd November but might see you at port-truth 2mrw??
