Special Guest Speaker: Gavin Strange from Aardman Animations

This month we are very pleased to announce we have a very special guest speaker in the form of Gavin Strange from Aardman Animations.

Gavin Strange
A Senior Design for Aardman Animations by day, creative all-sort going under the name of JamFactory by night

Gavin has the best job in the world. Working for the creative cathedral that is Aardman Animations, and within that holy place of characters, he's worked across different projects and different departments. One of the most exciting and important projects he's been involved in is the Gromit Unleashed and Shaun In The City art trails. Those projects saw hundreds of blanks statues of beloved characters customised by artists and then auctioned off for charity, raising money for the Bristol Children's Hospital.

Gavin was involved in those wonderful projects on many different levels - from designing the website & app to creating and painting sculptures themselves! So come along and listen to Gavin share the stories and learnings taken from such a touching and meaningful creative project.

As always we'll be in the upstairs room of The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer from about 6.30pm with the talk starting at 7pm. You'll be welcomed on arrival by our friendly and knowledgable volunteers where you can grab your name badge and get settled in.

There'll be plenty of chance to chat and network with our other members and to ask questions if have them before and after and the talk.

We hope to see you there!

We will be upstairs in the function room, here is a handy video showing you how to get there...

Hey all, Thanks so much for coming on Tuesday night. We got lots of great feedback about Gavin's talk so we're glad you all enjoyed it! Also, lots of you volunteered to get involved in our community in different ways, which we'll follow up in the next few weeks. Thanks guys :)

In the meantime, we made mention of our website - - where you can find a history of all our talks and slides/resources to help you. We always love your feedback so don't hesitate to send us through your suggestions and ideas.

Hope to see you in December where we have a fun event planned around the theme of maintenance (have I spelt that right? - it's a really tough one to spell!!) and hosting. xx

Hi lovely Bristol WordPressers! We're all really looking forward to this talk next week and so are you all by the looks of it. Great to see so many first timers signing up to come and check it out. Please can we ask that if your availability changes for any reason can you change your RSVP so someone else can grab your spot? That would be really lovely and helpful to us.

    See you all soon! :0)
