Legends of Skyfire (http://www.meetup.com/Brookhurst-Gamers/messages/boards/forum/1391203) is a Pathfinder RPG campaign set in a world designed exclusively for Brookhurst Hobbies. The campaign is episodic, meaning that each session is intended to be self-contained, while still contributing to an overall story. This way, new players can join in at any time, and regulars can come and go, all without feeling like they've missed too much.
You may create your character at home, as long as it adheres to the following guidelines. All characters are subject to final approval by the Head Game Master.
Philosophy: An ideal character is well-rounded, with strengths and real weaknesses. An ideal character should have a general background that explains where he or she came from, what his or her long-term and short-term goals are, and whether he or she has any family ties, relationships, rivals, etc. An ideal character will be more than a collection of numbers on a sheet - there should be a story there, or at least the potential for a story waiting to happen.
Create a 1st-level character using the following array for ability scores: 16, 15, 14, 13, 10, 7.
You may pick your class from the following list of Core Rulebook classes: Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, and Sorcerer; and from the Advanced Players Guide: Cavalier and Oracle. Due to the nature of the world and flavor of the setting, Clerics and Monks are not freely available as class choices. Paladins and Wizards are available to choose as prestige classes.
You may pick any race from the Core Rulebook.
Class archetypes are not allowed (at this point in time).
Feats, spells, and equipment may be chosen from: Core Rulebook, Advanded Players Guide, Advanced Race Guide, Ultimate Magic, Ultimage Combat, Ultimate Equipment. (For flavor consideration, eastern-style equipment is not allowed.)
Starting wealth: purchase whatever equipment you like based on the listed average wealth for your character.
The campaign is intended for a heroic party. Evil-aligned characters are discouraged - you must still cooperate with the group.

Hi there, a friend and I are interested in this event, but neither of us have ever played Pathfinder/D&D ever. Exactly how noob-friendly is this? I'm trying to get a group of friends together so that we can play, so I'm also in the process of learning how to DM (hard since I've never played a game myself).
1) Is the group welcoming of super-noobs?
2) How long do these events usually last?
